For 175 years, Catholic education has been a part of the life of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, beginning with the founding of the first school in Galveston in 1847. In our Archdiocese and across the United States, Catholic schools have provided an education and opportunities to millions of children--forming consciences, reducing poverty and building communities of faith.
The 59 Catholic schools throughout the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston educate over 17,000 children every year. As the largest, private educational system in Texas, the Catholic Schools Office builds on a long tradition of promoting excellence in academics, encouraging spiritual growth, and assisting in the formation of students in mind, heart and spirit.
Please view the video above to hear from Benita Gonzales, Director of Student Support Services for the Catholic Schools Office, to learn more about how Catholic schools partner with members of the community to provide vital services that build healthier and stronger school communities.
Please pray for our students, our educators and all of those committed to the values promoted through Catholic education–forming the whole person in the image of Christ.
Like over 60 other ministries in the Archdiocese, the Catholic Schools Office is supported by the Diocesan Services Fund (DSF). Each year, programs supported by the DSF provide services that live out the Gospel message and bring Christ into our communities. 100% of every dollar given to the DSF goes directly to supporting ministries in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
