Is Gay OK? - The Catholic Church and the Homosexual
Theology on the Vine - Nov. 6, 2014
with Fr. Mario Arroyo
The Christian community is called to offer its homosexual sisters and brothers understanding and pastoral care.
What does this mean in practice?
It means that, even though God's plan is that sexual intercourse occur only within marriage between a man and a woman, and that it is oriented towards the procreation in life, all homosexual persons have a right to be welcomed into the community, to hear the word of God, and to receive pastoral care.
The teachings of the Church make it clear that the fundamental human rights of homosexual persons must be defended and that all of us must strive to eliminate any forms of injustice, oppression, or violence against them. Much confusion and prejudice still remains about this subject in the Christian community.
This talk is meant to throw some much needed light into the midst of that confusion.
