Celibacy and the Clergy Thru the Eyes of a Married Priest
Theology on the Vine - Oct. 2, 2014 with Fr. Scott Blick
In some Eastern rites of the Church it is common for married men to be ordained to the priesthood. In the Latin rite there are a few married men, converted ministers from other faiths, who are ordained to the Catholic priesthood. But this is not common. Was it always this way? If not, when did this change. Weren’t some of the 12 Apostles married men?
At this Theology on the Vine gathering Fr. Scott Blick provides insights that help put this topic into perspective.
Fr. W. Scott Blick is a priest of the U.S./Canadian Anglican Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter and has full faculties to serve as a priest in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
He was received into the Catholic Church in Feb. 2012 after 35 years of ministry in the Episcopal Church and was ordained by His Eminence, Daniel Cardinal DiNardo on May 7, 2013.
